The Challenge
InPen™ combines a Bluetooth® wireless technology insulin pen with an easy-to-use smartphone app. InPen paired with the app simplifies the constant recording, monitoring, and calculating required for successful multiple daily insulin injection therapy.
When we first partnered with InPen, they had a prototype in hand and were seeking FDA approval of their new technology, an advancement that would later change the world.

Brand Strategy
Our Muses adapted the clean and simple appearance of the tech industry and combined it with messaging that told a story of a life regained to the audiences. One one side, we embraced the emotional struggle someone feels while dealing with such a restricting and uncomfortable disease. On the other, we told the technical story to doctors who will use this device to improve the quality of their patients’ lives. In both cases, our messaging navigated the regulations of the FDA with ease.
Brand Identity
InPen adopted the circle commonly associated with diabetes global awareness day. With clean, personable, friendly, yet techy tones, the mark came to life.
Website & App Design
The Brand needed a clean website that had an Apple feel. Our Muses separated the target audiences (patient and doctor) so that the message could speak and emotionally connect directly to them. We applied the same energy to the InPen app and assisted our client through adhering to the Google and Apple app stores.
Trade Show Booths Galore
One key marketing funnel was to bring awareness to the new product from within the industry. Our Muses engineered, designed, and purchased all of the trade show equipment and graphics to help them stand out. In the Trade Show world, it’s ‘go big or go home’. InPen went big, and it was pivotal to their success.
Sales Collateral
As the InPen launched, a 20 person sales team split out over the country to sell the product. Our Muses designed both patient and physician facing brochures, literature, and sales materials. We created presentation decks, coupons, banner stands, sales folders, and insurance forms to aid the sales team in making a strong first impression.
Tutorial Video Production
As the product launched, our Muses storyboarded, art directed, produced, and voiced the script for the tutorial videos to provide superior customer support.
The Result
When we first partnered with InPen, there were 5 people. When we said goodbye, they had well over 30 employees. We transitioned the brand strategy over to their new marketing director and design team with a tear in our eye over several months. Though we worked ourselves out of a role with one of our favorite clients, we still get together with Inpen’s President on an annual basis as friends.
